What’s new: Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. has opened its artificial intelligence (AI) large language model (LLM) Tongyi Qianwen to the public, the tech giant announced Wednesday.
The company launched the model to the mass market after its registration with authorities was approved, Alibaba’s cloud unit said in a statement.
To date, companies and organizations such as smartphone-maker Oppo Co. Ltd., Zhejiang University, and Alibaba’s Taobao and DingTalk platforms are working with Alibaba Cloud to train their own LLMs or develop applications based on Tongyi Qianwen.
继百度商汤等公司之后，阿里大模型向全社会开放。9月13日，阿里云宣布，其通义千问大模型通过备案，正式向公众开放。此外，阿里云近期还将开源一个更大参数规模的大模型版本，供全社会免费商用。
此前的9月1日，百度、商汤、MINIMAX、百川智能和智谱AI等5家公司宣布，其大模型向全社会全面开放。彼时，阿里云仍在等通知。
阿里云宣布向公众开放通义千问大模型的当天，淘宝宣布其内测应用“淘宝问问”已接入通义千问大模型，在通义千问基础模型之上，结合电商领域知识和专业算法，以“AI对话”的方式与用户进行交互，明确用户需求，提供更精确的推荐。
Taobao, Alibaba’s core e-commerce marketplace, is testing internally a Tongyi Qianwen-powered chatbot that can help users search for products and provide better recommendations, Caixin has learned.
The tool, named “Taobao Wenwen,” is expected to open to the public before the “Double 11” shopping festival in November, a person close to Alibaba’s Taobao and Tmall Group told Caixin.
除了商品推荐外，“淘宝问问”还可以满足消费者在生活消费等方面的搜索需求，比如为用户旅行提供行程建议、旅行装备、目的地酒店、门票、出行交通等方案。
一名接近淘天集团人士向财新表示，“淘宝问问”目前还处于用户申请测试阶段，预计在今年淘宝天猫双十一前，向所有用户开放。
The background: At Tongyi Qianwen’s launch in April, Alibaba said that the LLM would eventually be integrated into all business applications across its ecosystem.
The announcement also came days after Alibaba’s former chief Daniel Zhang stepped down as head of its Cloud Intelligence Group less than a year after assuming the role. New group chief executive Eddie Wu has taken over as the unit’s acting CEO and chairman.
In an internal letter on Tuesday, Wu said Alibaba will be making AI and user experience its top priorities.

阿里云旗下办公协同软件钉钉成为首款接入的产品。4月，钉钉宣布接入大模型，到8月22日已有17条产品线、55个场景接入大模型，预计搭载这些功能的新版本将在9月底正式上线。
